A Congleton Town Council working group wants to work with both parties who are integral to ensuring a major new shopping complex scheme in the town centre doesn't become a "zombie investment" after planning permission was granted 10 years ago.

Cllr Russell Chadwick told Thursday's virtual Congleton Town Council meeting of the Town Hall, Assets & Services Committee that the business support working group would like to work alongside Cheshire East Council and Scarborough Group to regenerate the market area.

This summer the RSPCA is encouraging children to become an animal hero and take on a physical challenge to help raise funds for animals in need.

Eight-year-old Gracie-Lilly (pictured with her chicken, and with her dog Bell) from Congleton became an Animal Hero by taking on the challenge of walking 30 miles in June with her dog Bell.

Throughout the lockdown, the Chappell Centre continued to provide "A Helping Hand" and responded to 17 requests for delivery of either prescriptions or shopping.

In July, they were busy making preparations to reopen. The centre, located off Leek Road, Mossley, reopened last Monday (3rd August) and is taking part in the 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme.
