Beartown Comedy Festival

The only two-day event on this list, and one that has been looked forward to for months, a multi-venue comedy festival will take place in Congleton this weekend.

The Beartown Comedy Festival on Friday and Saturday will celebrate some of the countries best comics, just weeks after the Congleton brewer celebrated an expansion which allows them to produce three times more beer

With The Wonky Pear and the newly-expanded Beartown Brewery with adjacent taproom The Den hosting the funnies

With nine shows, including a 'special guest' as the finale on Saturday evening, prepare to have your ribs-tickled! Get your tickets here. More info here.

Congleton vs Kidsgrove

The Bears will play in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division again this season, and just a few pre-season fixtures remain. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Congleton Nub News)

It is a local affair for the Bears' next pre-season fixture this weekend.

Friday night football will see Congleton Town FC take on Kidsgrove Athletic.

It will be a tight affair, with the Staffordshire club playing just one division above Congleton in the Northern Premier League Division One West.

Adults pay £6 on the door, Concessions £4 and kids £2. Just head to the Cleric Stadium CW12 4GA for 7:45pm.

Church Party

Congleton: Traditional stalls, glorious weather, and a great day out are promised at this church in Newbold Astbury this weekend. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Congleton Nub News)

The words 'church' and 'party' aren't really two things that go together, unless you stick the word 'garden' in front of them that is!

On Saturday, a two-and-a-half hour celebration will take place at St. Mary's Church, with a chance for kids to go pet some alpacas down the road as well.

Festivities include a Pimms stall, strawberries and cream, along with family-friendly games. There will even be a BBQ at the church as well - which is not a sentence you can say every day!

Turn up at 2pm. It will be a hot one. Tickets £10 Adults and £5 Children in support of the Peel Lane place of worship. More info.

Dog Grooming Course

Here's something truly unique...

Just round the corner from the prior event, a dog grooming masterclass will take place at Glebe Farm. However, it is on a different date.

This Sunday at 10am, you can find out how to improve your dog's hair game, with this grooming lesson.

The seminar will be followed by an afternoon workshop for up to six people. The workshop will give you the opportunity to groom your own dog under Emma's guidance and learn more about how to achieve those eye catching Asian Fusion styles.

Grooming tables can be provided. Refreshments will be available throughout the day. Llunch will be provided.

The seminar costs £40 Seminar, £80 with the workshop. Payments can be paid through PayPal - [email protected].
