Totally Locally: Great news as Fiver Fest returns to Congleton

By Tom Avery

8th Oct 2020 | Local News

Following the Fiver Fest earlier in the year, the successful event returns, celebrating the wonderful, independent shops and retailers in Congleton.

From October 10 to 23, lots of independent businesses and shops will be offering special deals costing just a fiver. It is to encourage footfall on the High Street and give local traders a boost in these challenging times.

It is a nationwide event as part of the Totally Locally initiative and is all about the independent retailers and those who contribute directly into the local economy of the town, it doesn't include any chains or big retailers.

Its aim is to inspire us to celebrate local businesses, often run by families or individuals, making a real contribution to our unique town.

Congleton Town Council have been busy working with businesses in the town and many local retailers and establishments have already signed up.

The Congleton businesses participating are:

- Birch Jewellers

- Bear Grills

- Delia Metcalfe

- RJ Moores

- Willow Vintage & Gifts

- Davenports

- Wild & Wild

- Victoria Mill

- Hollins & Hollinshead

- Browns Jewellers

- Norris Health

- Factory Bedrooms

According to Totally Locally, if every adult in Congleton spent £5 per week in their local shops and businesses, instead of online, at a national chain or at the big supermarket, it would be worth £5.2 million per year to our local Congleton economy.

Leading to more jobs, a better high street, a stronger economy and a nicer place to live.
