One of the most popular musicals of all time is coming to Congleton.

Congleton Musical Theatre is gearing up to stage Little Shop of Horrors at Daneside Theatre.

A perfect blend of sci-fi, horror, comedy, and rock-and-roll, this musical delivers catchy songs and chilling moments in equal measure.

At the heart of the action is the growing, singing, and demanding Audrey II puppet—a feat of stagecraft that always leaves a massive impression.

Meanwhile, pulling the strings is director and musical director, Nicky Evans.

She said: "I have been thrilled and honoured to direct and musical direct this amazing show although it has been challenging doing both roles.

"The cast are amazing! Considering we only have 10 actors in the whole production, it is dynamic and well worth a watch."

Nicky continued: "This show is a rock-and-roll horror story; a Faustian bargain wrapped up in a '60s doo-wop package.

"It's a hilarious, yet deeply cautionary tale about the insatiable nature of greed—the price of getting everything you want, and the little plant that ultimately holds the bill.

"It's an absolute blast, but the moral is simple: Don't feed the plants!"

With a history that stretches back to 1932, originally as the Congleton Amateur Operatic Society, Congleton Musical Theatre has continually evolved, aiming to produce professional-quality shows that captivate and entertain.

Their latest choice is no exception—a cult classic written by the legendary duo of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, the creative geniuses behind Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, and Aladdin.

The show whisks us away to a rundown flower shop on Skid Row where floral assistant, Seymour Krelborn, stumbles across a new breed of plant, which he names 'Audrey II' after his co-worker crush.

However, Audrey II turns out to be a foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore that promises Seymour unending fame and fortune as long as he keeps it fed...

Over time, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out-of-this-world origins and its intent towards global domination!

Little Shop of Horrors at Daneside Theatre runs from Tuesday, October 21, to Saturday, October 25, with performances kicking off at 7.30pm each night.
