The dental practice that has kept Congleton residents smiling for 40 years
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 3rd Feb 2026
A dental practice has been praised for four decades of service to the local community.
Congleton Dental Centre has been presented with a High Street Award by Congleton Town Council.
Jenny Furnival, a long-standing member of the team, accepted the award on behalf of the practice from deputy town mayor, councillor Suzy Firkin.
Councillor Firkin said: "Congleton Dental Centre is a true cornerstone of our community.
"For 40 years, they have provided exceptional care to local families while remaining committed to the NHS.
"It's businesses like this that give our town its character and make our high streets thrive."
Founded in 1985 by Dr Andrew Mellor, Congleton Dental Centre originally operated from a single surgery at 73 West Street, a terraced house in Congleton town centre.
In 2006, the practice moved to its current location at 11 West Street and has since grown to include eight state-of-the-art treatment rooms, a fully computerised record and appointment system, and digital radiograph imaging.
The practice has always remained loyal to the National Health Service, offering the full range of available NHS treatments.
Now run by Dr Mellor's daughter, Carly, the family business employs 39 staff.
