Christmas is coming Congleton!
The ceremony to switch the lights on may not have gone according to plan (torrential rain saw to that on the day) but the tree, now fully lit, is a splendid sight in the Community Gardens in Lawton Street.
There's still time to purchase a star either in memory of a loved one no longer here for Christmas or to send a personal greeting.
Over Christmastime, many people can visit the tree and see their star as a focal point for quiet contemplation.
Until December 22, stars are available from the Congleton Information Centre at the Town Hall, where a personal message can be written.
Alternatively, stars can be bought online from this webpage and in that case, the message is left to be written by a Rotarian of Congleton Rotary.
Stars will be added to surround the tree in time for the big day.
The Congleton Tree of Light is a growing tree dedicated to the memory of Alan Parton, the Rotarian who brought the concept of the Tree to Congleton.
Now in its third year, the Tree has become an established part of the town's Christmas and a fitting memory to the enthusiasm and work of Alan. Proceeds from the sale of stars are used to support Rotary-Congleton's work in the community.
