Congleton's award-winning adventure play centre is keeping family fun affordable with its latest offer.

Castaway Play has announced the launch of its new Sizzling Summer Pass, giving families three months of unlimited visits for one low price.

Covering all of June, July and August, the pass grants access to 22,000 square feet of adventure play equipment as well as special events, such as bubble shows and foam parties.

Owner Joanna Cottrell said: "Summer holidays can feel long, especially when you are trying to keep children entertained. This pass takes the pressure off.

"You always have a go to place where the children can play, burn off energy, and have fun.

"It is also flexible. You do not need to plan weeks in advance. If the weather turns or plans change, you can simply head over to Castaway Play.

"On top of that, we know how important the cost-of-living is at the moment and recognise that days out can be ridiculously expensive. So we're aiming to offer value for money!"

History of Castaway Play

Castaway Play started out life back in 2019.

Parents to two boys, Joanna and her husband Simon felt there was a need for somewhere locally for families with young children to go during the day.

Joanna said: "I don't really think we knew what we were getting into. We did not expect it to take off like it has!"

It wasn't an easy start to life, with the country going into lockdown the following March.

However, Castaway Play has bounced back triumphantly, opening up more rooms and picking up a few awards along the way.

In 2025, the centre picked up the Muddy Award for best Family Experience, beating the likes of Chester Zoo and BeWILDerwood.

Joanna said: "That was so touching because we didn't even know we'd been nominated!

"When it's been voted for by the people, it just means more."

What's inside?

Castaway Play is made up of five distinct areas.

First on the scene was the Pirate Room with a pirate ship, panning for gold, a wave slide, an indoor beach and more.

Towards the end of 2019, they opened up their second room - the Lost Jungle.

Here you will find zip lines, slides, dino shooters and the Tree Top Adventure.

Joanna said: "We wanted it to be different. It's not traditional soft play, it's adventure play!"

Since then they've opened up the Magical Kingdom, aimed at smaller children with things like a role play village, a ball pit, soft play and a disco room.

There's also the Sports Area with basketball, football and sledge racing.

Last but not least is the covered outdoor beach.

"It's massive," Joanna said.

"People can spend a whole day here.

"We get people coming from Manchester, Wales, the Midlands. We're never surprised at just how far people come to visit us."

SEND facilities and Ice Cream Parlour

With two neurodivergent sons and a niece with Cerebral Palsy, Joanna and her team are dedicated to making play inclusive.

With this in mind, Castaway Play boasts a Space-themed sensory room for younger visitors and children who can become overwhelmed by loud noise and crowds.

They also offer SEND versions of all of their special seasonal events and specialist changing facilities

Joanna said: "When Castaway Play was established in March 2019 we made a firm commitment to make our play centre a destination for all children to enjoy."

Castaway Play is constantly evolving and adding new things to keep the little ones entertained.

The latest addition is the Ice Cream Parlour, opened this year in partnership with Snugburys.

With bike racks and outdoor seating looking towards Congleton Edge, the parlour caters not only to Castaway customers but also passing cyclists and walkers.
