A Congleton performing arts charity has made a rapturous return, after a local business gave them a donation to help them bounce back from the pandemic.

Circus Starr received almost £3,000 to run a circus show for families with disabled, disadvantaged and vulnerable children.

Swansway Group, which owns Crewe Audi, Crewe SEAT and Crewe Volkswagen, has made the gesture to Congleton-based charity Circus Starr.

The group has donated £2,980 through the sale of Motability vehicles across their 17 Motability dealerships.

It will pay for tickets to be sent to children and their families through a network of hospices, schools, hospitals, regional branches of national charities and support groups.

Families can also apply direct to Circus Starr, who have an office on Congleton's Dane Mill.

Circus Starr's Sarah Hall said: "The global pandemic really hit us hard and we missed out on a whole year of putting smiles on the faces of so many children and their families.

"We have just completed our first tour back since March 2020 and we couldn't be happier. This latest donation from Swansway Group will help us to continue bringing smiles to faces up and down the country next year and we really can't wait."

Swansway Group Director David Smyth said: "The last few months have been tough in the motor trade. Stock supply issues have been affecting our ability to fulfil new car orders, particularly for those on the Motability Scheme.

"But we're extremely pleased to be able to support Circus Starr with donations like this one and long may it continue."

Circus Starr have just wrapped up their Summer tour and will be returning in January 2022 with their kick-off show in Cambridge.

Recipients can exchange all or part of their allowance to lease a Motability car such as an SUV, saloon, hatchback or MPV across a wide range of vehicle makes.
