Second fire in three days at Congleton Park suspected to have been started deliberately
A small fire involving leaves and shrubbery at Congleton Park last night (Thursday) is suspected to have been started deliberately.
Shortly after 9:15pm firefighters were notified of an outside fire in the Mill Green area of Congleton.
On arrival the crew discovered there was a small fire involving leaves and shrubbery.
Firefighters extinguished the fire with water and were in attendance for around 25 minutes. One fire engine from Congleton attended the incident.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "The fire is suspected to have been started deliberately."
Anyone with any information about the fire should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 920707, or give the details via Cheshire Police's website.
A Congleton Fire Station spokesperson said: "Following another small fire in Congleton Park. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service would like to highlight the dangers of fires in woodland areas.
"A fire in an area of dense woodland can spread very quickly causing lots of damage."
Last night's incident comes only two days after firefighters attended a fire in Congleton Park which was believed to have been caused by a discarded cigarette.
