School's out and families can take advantage of a host of summer activities in the town centre.

Congleton Town Council has announced the start of its summer festivities which include weekly Tuesday play days in the town centre .

Rachel McCarthy, town centre and events officer said: "These six play days will take place every Tuesday of the school summer holiday from 10.30am-2.30pm in the pedestrian area.

"Each week will feature a different theme, complete with activities to match. Best of all, there's no need to drive out of town—everything is local and conveniently located right on your doorstep. We can't wait to see you there!"

The activities kicked off with a drumming and music day today (Tuesday). Next Tuesday (July 30th) there's a junk modelling day.

The calendar is as follows:

  • Tuesday 30 July – Junk Modelling Day
  • Tuesday 6 August – Olympic Games Day
  • Tuesday 13 August – Traditional Play Day (with Community Projects)
  • Tuesday 20 August – Photo Snappy Day
  • Tuesday 27 August – Comic Art and Flyaway Day

For the past few years, the town council has partnered with Congleton Community Projects to host a Play Day during the summer holidays

Traditionally this has been held in early August to celebrate National Play Day, which falls on 13th August this year.

Families can expect even more fun and excitement. The town council has secured funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to stage the six events.

Now the town council is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to contribute to the success of the play days.

"The additional support will be invaluable in ensuring each event is fun filled for all the young visitors," said a spokesperson.

"Local groups and community organisations are encouraged to join in if they have activities to enrich the theme."

If you would like to get involved, contact Rachel McCarthy for more information. Email: [email protected], or telephone: 01260 270350 (ext 3).
