Rising temperatures may have an impact on bin collections.

Cheshire East Council has warned that they may not be able to complete all of their collections this week.

It comes as temperatures look set to climb into the 30s.

With bin collection crews required to wear full protective clothing, rounds will take longer to complete due to the heat.

A council statement reads: "Temperatures are climbing across Cheshire East and our bin collection crews are working hard to complete as many rounds as possible.

"The extreme temperatures are having an impact, as our crews need to wear full protective clothing because of the work they do, so they are feeling the heat more than most and rounds are taking longer to complete.

"This means we may not be able to complete all collections this week.

"We'll do all we can to return to any missed collections and thank you for your patience."

Roads & gritters

On a related note, Cheshire East Council has warned that the high temperatures can cause road surfaces to soften and bitumen to rise, particularly on recently surface dressed areas.

As such, you may see the gritters out this week.

They will be applying specialist material to help protect affected surfaces.

The council will also be inspecting recently laid sites and has warned that the heat may impact planned surface dressing.

"We're unable to lay material during periods of high road surface temperatures," reads a statement shared by the council.
