Residents have been urged to arrive at the Congleton Town Hall at their allotted time to avoid a cold wait ahead of their Covid-19 vaccinations.

Yesterday (8 January), was the first day of vaccinations at the town hall, in which 95-year-old Congleton resident Reginald Holt became the first member of the town to receive the Covid-19 vaccination.

Today (9 January) will be another busy day of vaccinations at Congleton Town Hall and residents have been asked to not arrive "very early" for their appointment.

A spokesperson for Congleton Town Council said: "Yesterday was a good first day, but it would be even better if people did their very best to arrive as close as possible to their appointment times.

"Yesterday some people, keen not to be late, arrived very early. Today the marshals will be asking people who arrive early to go back and wait in their car or to go for a walk around the block rather than queue outside the town hall.

"Please aim to arrive at the town hall as close as possible to your given appointment time - you will be met by a volunteer marshal who will then see you into the town hall for temperature checks and registering.

"People will be seen at the time of their appointment not in the order of arrival.

"We appreciate it is difficult to know how long it will take to travel into Congleton and park up. But you are better waiting in the car than outside the town hall."

Once again, the public have been asked to avoid parking in the bays opposite the town hall to keep them free for people coming for their vaccinations.

Burns Garage on Canal Street have kindly offered their forecourt for parking during the vaccinations.
