A pottery painting studio has enjoyed a successful start to life.

Bramble & Bear Pottery opened at Glebe Farm in Astbury last month and things couldn't have gone much better so far.

It is the latest business venture of Sara Faulkner, who first delved into the world of pottery just seven years ago.

She said: "I'm really excited, I don't know how to put it into words!

"I just love going to work now. I get up and get to do something that I genuinely love.

"I love my studio and I'm really proud of what I have created."

Originally from Macclesfield, Sara moved to Congleton three years ago.

The 36-year-old admits she didn't do very well at school and had no idea what she was going to do with her life when she left with no GCSEs.

She ended up working as a receptionist at a dentist and, despite qualifying in dental nursing, knew her passions lay elsewhere.

Having become a fan of a potter on Instagram, in 2019 Sara decided to buy her own kiln.

Within weeks she had launched her own business, Forest Clay Ceramics, and she now boasts over 11,000 Instagram followers.

Inspired by the success Periwinkle & Clay in Macclesfield, Sara decided she wanted to open a similar pottery painting studio closer to her home in Congleton.

She said: "Glebe Farm is somewhere we loved going as a family anyway and I just thought, I would love to have a space here!

"The space is just absolutely beautiful. It's very cosy inside."

At the moment, Bramble & Bear is just focused on the painting side of things.

However, in the future, Sara would like to start offering lessons involving the earlier stages of the pottery process.

She added: "I want to welcome everybody.

"Sometimes, people think they're not creative but there is always an element of creativity in there.

"And I just think it's lovely because I think it's a community thing!"
