A Congleton man has been charged with rape and assault.

Baretta Percival has been charged with two counts of rape, a section 47 assault and two counts of assault by beating.

It comes following an investigation by Macclesfield CID into an incident that took place in the early hours of July 6 at an address in Congleton.

Percival, of Parnell Square on Hilary Avenue, was subsequently charged with the aforementioned offfences.

The 40-year-old was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday, July 10.
