Police and paramedics responded to calls regarding concern for a man's welfare.

A large emergency service presence was spotted in Congleton town centre on Friday afternoon, January 30.

It followed reports of concerns for the welfare of a man on Lawton Street.

Upon arrival, Cheshire Police officers engaged with the man in question, who was subsequently taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for the force said: "At 2.50pm on Friday, police were called to concerns for the welfare of a man on Lawton Street, Congleton.

"Officers attended and engaged with the man, and he was later passed to the care of paramedics and taken to hospital."
