The petition to save the recycling centre in Congleton passed the 3000-signature milestone yesterday (Saturday).

The initiator of the petition, Liberal Democrat Congleton Town Councillor Paul Duffy wants to thank every person who has signed up.

Cllr Duffy said: "This petition has reflected the anger and frustration of the residents of Congleton regarding the closure of the Congleton site with no plan to replace.

"We already have had a huge consultation response where it was clear we should have a tip; this petition continues to show that the residents demand a replacement.

"I will be writing to Sam Corcoran and Laura Crane informing them of the milestone, at some point they have to recognise the anger within the Congleton community.

"Finally, I want to thank everyone who has signed and shared the petition."
