Officers are appealing for information following suspected Hare coursing and lamping in the Astbury area.
Residents contacted Cheshire Police Rural Crime yesterday afternoon (Friday) after they reportedly saw males on various occasions entering land in Astbury, sometimes not only with dogs, but with firearms as well.
PCSO Graham, of Cheshire Police Rural Crime, said: "All the people we've spoken to have confirmed they have heard what they believe to be the sound of a firearm being discharged.
"If you can provide any information regards the above please contact 101 as we're keen to establish who is involved."
