Dog owner discovers further poison at Congleton green space

By Tom Avery 25th Jan 2021

A further suspected incident of deliberately hidden poisoned food has been discovered by a dog owner at a Congleton green space.

A resident who did not wish to be named told Nub News that this was the first incident of anti-social behaviour at the Atkin Close park since May 2020.

The play area located opposite the Unicorn Pub, on Holmes Chapel Road, has been the subject of planted poison and broken glass over the last year.

With the park being a popular dog walking route, the poisonous food is reportedly being placed deep in the grass where dogs are likely to be sniffing and where their owners cannot see.

To ensure that no other dog walkers encountered the same issue, the resident picked up the suspected poison and disposed of it straight away.

Nub News has contacted Cheshire Police and Cheshire East Council for comment.
