New clinical diagnostic centre could be built at Congleton War Memorial Hospital
A new clinical diagnostic centre could be built at Congleton War Memorial Hospital, if plans are approved by the council.
East Cheshire NHS Trust has applied for permission to demolish existing buildings and build a new clinical diagnostic centre in its place.
A heritage statement, submitted as part of the application, states: "The Proposed Development comprises the demolition of the existing east wing, three support units and the old nurses building; and the erection of a new Clinical Diagnostic Centre (CDC) and improved walkways within the grounds of the Hospital.
"The new extension of 442sqm comprising the new CDC will provide a larger reception and waiting area at the rear of the main site, and it will be accessible directly from the existing hospital. The clinical rooms will provide imaging and cardiac respiratory physiological diagnostic testing, including:
- 2no. NOUS rooms;
- 1no. X-Ray room;
- 1no. Echo room;
- 1no. ECG room;
- 2no. clinical rooms; and
- Staff support areas"
The four support buildings and old nurse building to the north and east of the site are proposed for demolition; they are currently used for storage with some areas remaining vacant.
Ten additional parking spaces would be created as well as three EV chargers and the building would create an extra 13 full-time jobs.
