Mum and daughter duo Liz and Jenna who work together on the frontline in Congleton celebrate Mother's Day.

After being a nurse for over 15 years, Liz decided to take on a new challenge and joined the ambulance service.

She originally worked for an external service working closely with North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) and specialising in paediatric intensive care before joining NWAS as an emergency medical technician in 2015.

Jenna, who joined NWAS as a student paramedic in 2008, said: "My mum always talked about the ambulance service with a passion and inspired me to apply.

"We are now both in the same team and have the pleasure of working together a lot.

"My mum is always the boss on those shifts and her line to me is: 'watch and learn young Jedi!'

"I am so proud of my mum still working shifts, carrying and lifting and doing the job at the age of 63, especially during the pandemic."

Jenna continued: "She never complains and is very well thought of in our area – people have adopted her as their 'work mum' too!

"She even let me drag her along to join the Special Operations Response Team (SORT), which means we were trained up to help out in major incidents.

"That was the day I met my husband who works in NWAS too in the Hazardous Area Response Team.

"It really is a family affair and we are all proud to be part of the 'green family' that is the ambulance service.

"Happy Mother's Day to my mum and all the NWAS mums out there working hard!"
