A local leading restaurant group has acquired a Congleton venue, which it will relaunch and open this year.

Parogon Group, which owns restaurants throughout Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire has acquired The Cheshire Tavern in Congleton, to launch a new restaurant that will create 50 jobs for the area.

Founded in 2007, Staffordshire-based Parogon Group has multiple venues across Staffordshire, Cheshire and Shropshire, including the hugely successful Willow at Trentham and The Swan with Two Necks.

The Group is currently completing a refinance of its bank facilities that will allow further growth in the coming years and has ambitious plans to bring its style of operation to new areas.

Parogon carefully selects individual, iconic landmark sites for its pub restaurants, which it transforms into stunning contemporary venues. The company's aim is to provide fantastic restaurants for local and surrounding communities to visit, where they can enjoy great food and drinks.

'The Cheshire Tavern' closed its doors in July 2022 as the previous tenants left, and the site was acquired by Parogon Group in December last year.

The restaurant will be rebranded as 'The Orange Tree Congleton' and work on the £1million refurbishment will begin in April. The renovation is estimated to take 12 weeks, ready for a summer 2023 opening.

The new venue on West Road will create around 50 jobs for the local area with management, kitchen and front of house positions available for those keen to be involved in hospitality at its best.

Phil Sharp, Property Director at Parogon Group, comments: "The venue is in an iconic location and housed in a stunning Grade II listed building with real history and character. Congleton is growing residentially, and its local developments open us up to new markets in a different area to Parogon's existing sites.

"We are working hard to make sure The Orange Tree Congleton will deliver a new experience for diners in the area with an incredible new design scheme, a fresh grill menu and our Parogon standards of service."
