In Pictures: VE Day from Neighbours in Congleton Part Three

Events to mark VE Day and the 75th anniversary of the end of WW11 were low-key because of the pandemic, but bunting and Union Jack flags were visible all over Congleton.

Grasmere Avenue was one of the streets where neighbours got together to raise a glass for those who gave their lives in the conflict.

Lisa Bailey, of Grasmere Avenue, told Nub News: "A fun afternoon was spent following a two minutes silence at 11am. Most of the Avenue sat out with food and drink all at social distance.

"A game of 'throw the parcel' with gloves on was followed by charades! The afternoon was finished off by us singing 'we'll meet again'."

This is the third edition of our VE Day gallery, our first part included a number of street parties across Congleton and our second one focused on Park Road's street party.
