How many COVID-19 cases are there currently in Congleton?

It is that time of the week again, where we digest the latest COVID-19 data in Congleton.

The latest figures, come from the seven days leading up to January 8. (Boxing Day to Wednesday Jan 2).

So one could say, these are the first true coronavirus figures in Congleton for 2022.

Every area inside and directly outside of Congleton has cases in the triple figures, but deaths remain low across the wider area but have trickled up slightly.

You can see the seven day case number change from the previous seven days (the last days of 2021 - in brackets).

There are 268 cases in Congleton Town and West Heath combined. As of January 6 2022, 87.3% of Congleton Town residents eligible have had a 1st dose of a coronavirus vaccine.

This is a percentage increase of 0.1%, 0.4% and 3.5% from the last seven days respectively. While data protection reasons can't tell us how many people died in Canal Road's Congleton War Memorial Hospital, four people with coronavirus went into hospital across East Cheshire NHS Trust on 9 January 2022. Between 3 January 2022 and 9 January 2022, 49 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 58.1% compared to the previous 7 days. There were 43 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 11 January 2022. Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe. There were two Cheshire East coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 11 January 2022. The same GOV.UK dataset suggests there were two deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 13 January 2022. Between 7 January 2022 and 13 January 2022, there have been 16 Cheshire East deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 77.8% compared to the previous seven days.
