Congleton has been ranked in the top 600 out of 1,429 towns, cities and villages in England and Wales.

Property finder company Garrington has published its 2024 marketing report for England and Wales.

The report ranks the 1,429 towns, cities and villages on measures covering five categories, with Congleton coming in at 578.

Of all the categories, Congleton ranks highest for its house prices for quality and value, and schools, sitting at 321 and 420 respectively.

The five categories include:

• natural environment
• wellbeing
• heritage/culture
• schools
• employment and connectivity
• house price quality and value

Garrington also lists the average family home cost and average sales price change across the last 12 months in each settlement.

Where does Congleton rank in the 2024 Garrington report?

Out of the 1,429 places, Congleton has been ranked 578 overall.

Of all the categories, Congleton ranks highest for its house price and schooling. The town fares worst for its wellbeing, ranking at 1056.

Heritage and culture is ranked at 671 and natural environment sits at 941.

According to Garrington, the average family home cost in Congleton is £396,028, with an average sales price increase of 2.1 per cent in the last year.

• Crewe is ranked at 772 overall, with house price and quality scoring best at 313.
• Macclesfield sits very high on the list, coming in at 42 out of over 1,400, schools and employment scoring an impressive 164.
