Almost 6000 locals will recycle Christmas trees via donation to East Cheshire Hospice, which has served Congleton since the the late 1980s.

A Macclesfield good cause have come up with a solution to dispose of your Christmas tree, to prevent it from being fly-tipped.

East Cheshire Hospice will collect your Christmas tree from your doorstep this weekend, in a tradition which has been going since 2001.

You could be a business or household who wants to get rid of a festive fir tree. Your address just has to be in the CW12 area.

Congleton: You have until Tuesday lunchtime to register your tree for collection and support East Cheshire Hospice.

All you have to do is make a donation amount of your choosing to East Cheshire Hospice, which provide care to patients and their families suffering from life-limiting illness.

After you have registered your tree for collection all you need to do is leave your tree outside, in an easily accessible location, for the morning on Saturday 15th and pine-picking-up team will do the rest!

All the costs of running the collection are covered by local business sponsorship.

This means that every penny of your donation will go directly to supporting the Hospice and providing quality care for those who need it most.

5717 trees in our are are currently earmarked for collection, a figure which will likely pass 6000 before Tuesday's 12pm deadline.

However, ECHTrees are eager to register 7500 to prevent trees from being dumped elsewhere.

You can give what you want whether it is a fiver or fifty quid. Just enter your donation figure, payment details and your CW12 address.

If you have any questions, please email us on [email protected] or call our Customer Care Helpline 01625 708939.

The collected trees will decompose together giving back to nature, and the wood be re-used.

Register your tree here.

Even if you've already thrown away your tree, you can still donate to the cause here.

The tree collecting on behalf of the beloved charity has raised over a million pounds for them since 2001, part of those funds coming from the Congleton area.

It is the first January tree collection in two years, as lockdown left last year's collection happen in late April.
