A historic pub is set to shut down.

The Castle Inn has announced it will close following service this Saturday (July 19).

This announcement comes just three months after acclaimed chef Josh Adams took over as landlord.

A chalkboard set up at the pub reads: "Dear friends, patrons and our beloved community.

"The time has come to close the door of the Castle Inn.

"Thank you to everyone who supported us.

"Our last service will be this Saturday.

"So join us one last time before we vacate."

The sign was shared to the venue's Facebook, with more than 100 people flocking to the comments to share their thoughts.

Responding, Josh said: "Thank you to all the lovely people who supported us with your kind words, feedback, and encouragement.

"It's bittersweet to say goodbye - we're sad and devastated to be going, but it has been an absolute joy and honour cooking for you and welcoming those who chose to support us with open hearts."

Punch Pubs, the company who own the Castle Inn, have been approached for comment regarding the future of the venue.
