There's a new 'kid on the block' at Capital Walk, Congleton.

The latest eatery to come to the High Street dining hall is Roma Italia Ristorante (not to be confused with Roma Deli).

Southern Italian chef Alberto Palimeno is the man behind the new venture.

He's very passionate, so much so that he decided to launch his new pizza and pasta restaurant on Valentine's Day.

Alberto, who was born in Puglia, has a real 'heart' for perfection. It is truly his passion. Don't expect an 'average' pizza. He doesn't even know what that is.

His aim is to be as authentic as possible to the great pizza and pasta recipes of Italy, whether they are made in Napoli ( the traditional home of 'pizza') or from another region of the country.

In his words "Great food is about the finest quality of ingredients and simplicity".

When it comes to tomatoes for example, there is only one that is truly great and that is Pomodoro S. Marzano dell'Agro Sarnese.

Grown on the slopes of Vesuvius, they have a unique combination of sweetness and sharpness, just perfect for the pizza base and they are, like great wines, hand pressed, not pulped.

After that, the choice of topping yours from a simple cold-pressed olive oil coating through to freshly prepared pistachio paste, as well as the traditional favourites like Margherita , Marinara and Peperoni. When it comes to pasta, out goes the pale, dried spaghetti that we are so used to seeing. In comes freshly made, hand-rolled pasta with fresh eggs for colour and flavour.

On the eve of Valentine's, over 100 people filled the upstairs eating hall with the ladies receiving a red rose 'on the house'. All were treated to delightful meals.

The food not only tasted great, but looked good too. Service was in the usual friendly Italian style overseen by the watchful eye of Agata Czlapa, Alberto's Polish partner.

Capital Walk, the brain child of Tino Martoni, boasts a vast choice of outlets and the authentic experience of 'street food'.

There are even two choices of bar - London or Dublin. And now there is another Italian jewel to add to the 'Capital Crown'.

Other cuisines include Thai and American.

Capital Walk opened in June 2021.
