It is confirmed: Timpson is coming to Congleton.

As reported by Congleton Nub News five weeks ago, a planning application suggested the Clayton Bypass supermarket wanted to welcome the national repairs and dry cleaning company.

Now, Cheshire East Council have granted permission for it which means construction can begin.

A Cheshire East planner described the the proposed pod 'as a discrete retail unit'.

The proposed hours of operation as detailed on the application form - 09:00-18-00 Mon-Sat and 10:00-1600 Sun.

The exact number of jobs created are unknown.

The arrival of Timpson was criticised by Nub News readers who wished to support independent key cutters and other tradespersons.

This is despite one store of this kind already closing in the town this year.
