A Manchester company known for repairs, dry cleaning and more are hoping to open in Congleton.

An application to Cheshire East Council reveals a "Proposal to install Timpson's pod and 10x ramraid bollards" at Congleton's Tesco superstore."

The current nearest Timpson stores to Congleton are in Kidsgrove (5.2 miles away) and in Macclesfield's Grosvenor Centre, or the Macclesfield Hibel Road Tesco.

Further away are sites in Knutsford in Cheshire, and Buxton or Glossop in the High Peak.

A final decision on Congleton's Timpson will be made by February 16. Residents can raise praise or objections until January 30.

However, the links to any specific planning documents on the Cheshire East website currently link in error to a separate application in Bollington.

Congleton Nub News has reported the error to the Cheshire East Council planning department, which could take days to resolve. So it is hard to verify the claims or provide any further information.

In the meantime, both Tesco and Timpsons have been contacted for comment.

The news comes just a day after independent repairs company Menditz announced their closure on Congleton's 13 Mill Street.
