Former Congleton hairdresser opens her own salon with a name customers won't forget
A former Congleton hairdresser has opened her own salon in nearby Sandbach after being a mobile hairdresser for 13 year.
Jo Mellor has opened 'That Hair Salon' in Queen's Drive this week, following a complete makeover of the premises.
And the business is something of a family affair, for 37-year-old's husband John did all the renovation work and the couple's daughter, Sophie, came up with the name.
The mother-of-three worked at Jazz Hair Design in Congleton for many years before having children and going mobile.
"I was chatting with my daughter about what I should call the salon and she just came up with 'That Hair Salon' which had a real ring to it.
"We chatted it through and decided that customers wouldn't forget the name of the shop when they were asked where they went to get their hair done.
"I wanted something fresh and fun and we've gone with a mono chrome look to achieve this."
The stylish new premises, which was previously a hairdressing salon before, has comfy chairs and a modern, fresh look.
Jo, who lives in Winterley, near Sandbach has been a hairdresser all her life.
Many of her previous customers have booked into her new salon sited just outside of the town centre with good parking.
Customers are coming from as far afield as Congleton, Crewe and Mow Cop and Jo is advertising for other hairdressers to come and join her and rent a chair.
"I have a good client base but want to bring new customers with hairdressers wanting to rent a chair here," said Jo.
"We've got a Facebook page, Instagram and are on TikTok too."
So what styles and colours is Jo seeing making trends in hairdressing at the moment?
"We're moving away from the other shades of blonde and have gone back to what's called 'old money blonde' and cowboy copper is also very popular," she said.
"I'm also part of the grey blending community which is very popular too."
That Hair Salon is at 1a Queen's Drive and can be found on Facebook here where booking details can be found.
