Another person has died at Congleton railway station.

There was major disruption on the train lines on Sunday evening, January 26, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Emergency services were called to the station on Park Lane shortly before 7pm where tragically a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Congleton railway station at around 6:55pm yesterday following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

This was the second fatality in four days at Congleton railway station.

At around 7pm on Wednesday, January 22, emergency services were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics attended and confirmed a person had died.

A BTP spokesperson said: "The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
