East Cheshire NHS Trust's audiology service to temporarily relocate
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 22nd Jul 2026
East Cheshire NHS Trust's adult audiology service is on the move.
The service will be relocated from its current base in Macclesfield to Congleton War Memorial Hospital on Friday, August 14.
This is a temporary move while refurbishment works are completed at its new purpose-built audiology unit, which is expected to open in early 2027.
Doctor Robert Johnson, clinical lead for audiology, said: "The trust has an ongoing commitment to improving patient care and a big part of that is investing in our estate to ensure we have the best possible facilities at our disposal.
"To achieve this we're creating a new, modern, purpose-built home for our audiology service, at Pavilion House in Macclesfield.
"And to facilitate this, we need to undertake this temporary move to Congleton War Memorial Hospital, while refurbishment work is completed.
"For us this is a major milestone on the road to providing local people with a modern, purpose-built facility that will support the delivery of high-quality audiology services for many years to come."

Dr Johnson continued: "Until the new purpose-built facility opens, patients who would normally attend their audiology appointment in Macclesfield will now be seen at Congleton War Memorial Hospital.
"And we're putting arrangements in place to help minimise any disruption, including maintaining a limited service at Waters Green Medical Centre in Macclesfield for clinically appropriate appointments, and expanding local options for hearing aid battery collection and hearing aid repairs."
From Monday, August 17, patients will be able to collect hearing aid batteries and drop off hearing aids for repair at the following locations:
- Macclesfield District General Hospital (batteries only)
- Waters Green Medical Centre (drop off hearing aids only – no battery collection)
- Wilmslow Health Centre (batteries only)
- Congleton War Memorial Hospital (drop off hearing aid repairs and battery collection)
- Knutsford District Community Hospital (batteries only)
Patients with existing appointments will not need to take any action as the audiology team will contact them directly if their appointments are affected by the temporary relocation.
If patients have any questions, they can contact the service on 01625 66 1716.
