The hunt for information continues after a house fire this month in Congleton.

Now, police detectives investigating a fire at a house on Willow Street are appealing for information from members of the public.

At some time between 5pm and 6.30pm on Tuesday March 15 the home on Willow Street, adjacent to Buxton Road, was deliberately set alight.

There have been no reports of any injuries as a result of the fire, and the structure remains relatively intact.

As part of Cheshire Police's investigation they are appealing for anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage to make contact with them.

Detective Constable Tom Towe, of Macclesfield CID, said: "An investigation is underway to establish who is responsible for starting the fire.

"While our enquiries continue I am encouraging anyone in the community who has CCTV or dash cam footage between 5pm and 6.30pm on the day of the fire to please get in touch.

"I also want to appeal to anyone who may have information that could assist with the investigation to contact us."

"If you have information please contact Cheshire Constabulary online or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"Information can also be provided by contacting 101 quoting IML 1223339."

Police are treating the incident as arson.

Cheshire Fire in a statement said "Firefighters were called to smoke seen coming from a letterbox and downstairs window of a mid-terraced property in Congleton.

"The crews arrived on rapid response and searched the property and found it to be empty. They used a hose reel and a covering jet to extinguish the fire, which involved the ground floor, and a large fan to remove smoke from the property.

"Police closed the road while the incident was being dealt with. A thermal imaging camera was used at the incident and a fire investigation will take place."

Despite our town having a Fire Station on 14 West Street, it was actually firefighters from Macclesfield and Sandbach which were first to attend.

Unverified social media comment reports of a bomb squad were stated on Facebook.
