A free weekend of live music is to rock Congleton this March.

Congleton Live CIC Limited, the community interest company that organises Congleton's "Unplugged" and "Jazz & Blues" music festivals, having emerged from the retirement of former leader Vince Cutcliffe, is now promoting the upcoming "Congleton Unplugged" music festival. "Unplugged" is a weekend of free-entry music events in town centre establishments on Friday 10th through Sunday 12th March 2023.

Vince having been enormously successful and dynamic in leading the project since 2011 has handed over a vibrant committee to Mark Bailey who now sits in the chair. Vince's standards and goals remain at the heart of activities.

In addition to the free events, to be held on the second weekend of March, there will be ticketed gigs before and after the free-weekend, including poetry events hosted by John Lindley (Cheshire Poet Laureate in 2004, and Manchester Cathedral Poet of the Year in 2010 among many other accolades). The Free music events will start on Friday 10th March from 6pm and continue through to a conclusion on Sunday 12th March in the early evening.

Details of all gigs will be published in the coming weeks' but fans can expect many of their old favourites, including "Cry Baby & The Hoochie Coochie Boys", "Bring on The Swing", "Malpractice" and "The Big Wolf Band", to name just a few. Details are still being finalised but will be published on our website (https://www.congletonjazzandblues.co.uk) and other social media platforms very soon.

We call on all residents to participate in the support and promotion of our town centre as we emerge from pandemic and seek normal living. Live performance can be a joyous and inspiring mechanism for all of us.

Programmes and additional merchandise will be available in most town centre establishments from mid-February.

Congleton Live CIC Limited is currently enjoying support from Congleton Town Council as well as a collection of local businesses that includes AD Profile Design Works, Beartown Brewery, Eze Talk Limited, Franklyn Financial Management, Hammond McNulty, SAS Daniels and Stephenson Browne.
