Our town's football club is on the cusp of silverware, which would bring the highlight of a middling season for The Bears.

Congleton FC have reached the semi-final of the Macron Cup, but who exactly are The Bears opponents?

The Bears beat Bacup Borough FC in the quarter finals by one goal to nil.

Jordon Johnson grabbed a 71st minute winner to take them through to the Macron Cup semi-final, where they will face Cammel Laird 1907.

The Camels are a team that many Congleton fans may not have heard of as they play in the league below Congleton, so here is a recap of the squad and what to expect.

Cammell Laird are based in the Wirral, 51 miles away from the Cheshire Silk 106.9 Stadium.

They take their unusual name from the ship building industry which put Birkenhead on the map in the early 20th century.

Their Manager is Stuart Kier who took charge of the Camels this season.

They finished 14th in their league but were on a good run of form under their new manager, the team has won all of their last six fixtures in all competitions.

This included their Macron Cup Quarter final win, where they blew past Wythenshawe Amateurs 4-2, with Jay Harvey scoring a hat-trick.

Congleton Town's semi-final will take place on Tuesday May 10 at Cammel Lairds ground, the Prabhu Ventures Ltd Arena, with the kick off time being 19:45.

Richard Duffy and Micky Morton's Bears are on a good run of form themselves; they have gone unbeaten in their last four fixtures and hope to carry the momentum through till the end of the season.

While Cammell Laird's victory was more emphatic in the last round, Congleton Town were the only one of the two clubs to take a clean sheet, with David Parton putting in a great shift in the quarter finals on April 30.

So, after learning about our opponents, how confident are you that Congleton FC can book their place in this seasons Macron Cup Final?

If you want to travel and show your support for the bears, tickets range from £5 for adults and £2 for children, with programmes for the midweek fixture being £1.50.

The winners will face Charnock Richard, who came back from behind on Saturday to see off one of the NWCFL's best teams in Skelmersdale United, with a 2-1 victory.

Come on the Bears!
