A Congleton road is set to be closed for 18 days as roadworks take place on the route.

Fol Hollow and Waggs Road will be shut from today and are due to reopen by Saturday March 14th.

The road will be closed from the junction with the A34 Newcastle Road over the junction with Wagg Street.

Cheshire East Council have stated the closure will be in place 24 hours a day.

The work is being carried out by electricity infrastructure company Western Power Distribution-with the company installing new cable in the road.

In their road closure notice, Cheshire East Council said: "The alternative route will be via Newcastle Road, Newcastle Road Roundabout, Holmes Chapel Road, West Road, West Road Roundabout, West Street, Antrobus Street, Mill Street, Swan Bank, Wagg Street and visa which is considered the most suitable route."

Cheshire Police have asked motorists to plan their routes accordingly.
