A Congleton road could be closed until mid September in order for work to continue on the Congleton Link Road project.

The prohibition of traffic on the A534 Sandbach Road will be in place from outside Hilltop Bungalow to Post Box Cottage.

The temporary road closure was meant to come into effect yesterday (Monday) and the work is expected to be completed by 11th September (Friday).

Cheshire East Council have stated the closure will be in place 24 hours a day.

In the road closure notice, Cheshire East Council said: "The alternative route will be via Sandbach Road, Spark Lane, Newcastle Road, Street Lane, Brereton Road, Knutsford Road, Liverpool Road West, Congleton Road North, Congleton Road, Newcastle Road roundabout and visa versa which is considered the most suitable route."
