You'll be able to paddle in Congleton Paddling Pool in time for the Queen's Jubilee and Bank Holiday, as it is set to reopen this month.

The annual tradition located on 19 Park Road, was receiving a fresh lick of paint on Thursday, ready for reopening at the end of this month.

There's less than ten days to go until it is back, as of publication of this article. The pool will be open to the public from Saturday 28 May.

It will be open five days per week from Wednesday to Sunday and closed on a Monday and Tuesday.

There will be the option of a morning session (10am – 1pm) or an afternoon session (2pm – 5pm).

The booking system will be the same as the online one introduced last year during COVID-times.

Visitors will need to book their free spaces in advance by scanning the QR code at the public pool or on the image below. Alternatively, they can go onto the town council website.

Online bookings will open this weekend, on Saturday May 21.

Tickets will be released daily a week in advance.

Cut-off for same day bookings is 8am for mid week sessions and 10am close every Friday for sessions on a Saturday and Sunday.

There is a guarantee that it will be fully booked for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, with Congleton Park being at the heart of our town's celebrations, situated just round the corner.

If you want to bring the family to take a dip on the Jubilee, you must book by 10am on Wednesday 1 June.

There will be 140 tickets for each session and everyone entering the pool area will need a booked place, including babies and toddlers.

A person can download a maximum of eight tickets and will be restricted to one session a week.

The facility is designed for children aged 11 years and under and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Margaret Gartside said: "The online booking system worked well last year and led to an avoidance of queues.

"Everyone who booked a ticket knew they were guaranteed a place and plenty of space to enjoy the pool comfortably. The Paddling Pool has been enjoyed by families with young children for many decades and we hope that the 2022 summer season will be just as successful!"

Anyone who books a session and then changes their mind is asked to cancel the spaces so that it can be offered to people on the waiting list, this will also allow the person to book an alternative available session.

Visitors driving to the facility, are reminded to be respectful of local residents and to remember that Daneside Theatre car park is a private car park and cannot be used for the pool. Town Centre car parks are just a short walk from the pool and park.

Any announcements, updates or closures during the season will be made in the first instance on the town Council website and social media pages. Weather dependent.

The pool will be open until mid-September. An attendant will be there to help and life-guard at the pool at all times.

Congleton Paddling Pool as a tradition dates back to the 1930s.

Also new for this year, a Ukrainian flag had been added at the gates of the pool.

Please note: children should not take food or drink into the water.
