Congleton MP responds to the death of Queen Elizabeth
The death of HM the Queen has been announced by Buckingham Palace, and Congleton's MP has responded to a Congleton Nub News request for a tribute.
Queen Elizabeth II passed away, aged 96, at the Balmoral estate in Scotland where she has been staying over the summer.
In a statement Buckingham Palace said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
"The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."
Responding to the news, Congleton's MP since 2010 has given her well-wishes.
"Her Majesty's dedicated selfless service over seven decades has earned the respect and gratitude of us all, said Fiona Bruce MP.
"The Royal Family are very much in our thoughts and prayers at this time."
Congleton Town Council have also paid tribute to Her Majesty.
"Staff and Councillors at Congleton Town Council are deeply saddened at the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, "they said.
"Our thoughts are with the members of the Royal Family."
During the afternoon members of Queen Elizabeth II's close family, including her grandson William, Duke of Cambridge; sons Andrew, Duke of York and Edward, Earl of Wessex (and his wife Countess Sophie), arrived at the castle in Aberdeenshire.
The four travelled together in a vehicle driven by William. Her grandson, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, was reported to be travelling to Balmoral alone. Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, together with Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, were already at Balmoral.
It now appears they already knew that their mother and grandmother had passed before their arrival.
At lunchtime today Buckingham Palace had issued a statement saying: "Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.
