Congleton Leisure Centre is to reopen on Tuesday for the first time in over five months after closing at the beginning of the lockdown.

While some other leisure centres in the borough have been open since late July, Congleton's is among the last to open as part of a phased reopening plan.

The leisure centre will not have a full range of facilities open from Tuesday, with just the gym and group fitness classes operating.

Public swimming will not resume until the following week on Monday 7 September.

A statement from the centre operator, Everybody Leisure, said: "All swimming customers will need to follow social distancing and one way systems, come dressed 'beach ready' and are encouraged to follow the national swimming guidance which includes showering at home and spending minimal time in the changing villages."

The leisure centre will be open seven days a week. Customers can find out more information and book fitness class slots on the Everybody Leisure website.
