Congleton: Latest arrest figures as 'Mad Friday' beckons

Congleton has had 50 arrests in the month of December, has Cheshire Police continue their 'Christmas Crackdown'.

The number of arrests will increase this weekend, as the festive party season reaches its apex with December 16's 'Mad Friday' (the last Friday before Christmas).

As of publication, there have been 50 arrests in the town of Congleton since December 1.

This was when Cheshire Police announced they would target 'anti-social behaviour, violence against women and girls, domestic abuse and drink and drug driving', with a focus on the 'nightlife economy'.

Congleton Police Station is located on Market Square.

11 arrests were reported on December 5, meaning an increase of 39 in ten days.

That averages out at 3.1 arrests a day for the month of December thus far.

In that same period, Macclesfield saw 83 arrests and Crewe 101.

845 total arrests have been recorded across the County since December 1.
