Armed police in Congleton arrested a knife wielding man at the weekend.
The 48-year-old man has been arrested in Congleton after police received reports of a man carrying a large bladed weapon.
Dozens of police were seen on Antrobus Street on Friday night (October 8), and restricted access into the town centre.
Residents took to social media to report a large police presence in the area between Congleton Fire Station and Mountbatten Way.
Cheshire Police said in a statement: "At 5:30pm police received a report of a male threatening a member of the public with a large knife on Antrobus Street.
"Local officers attended with support of armed officers and arrested a 48 year old male nearby.
"No persons were injured.
Witnesses reported police had blocked both ends of Cross Street, behind The Kingfisher restaurant, to carry out a house raid.
Witness Diane Booth said: "We were waiting on the car park when black unmarked police cars and patrol cars pulled on and armed police jumped out, some went round the back [of The Kingfisher] and some up the steps.
"It was like [the BBC TV show] Line of Duty."
The man is currently in police custody.
