Plans have been submitted for a "modest extension" which would ensure sufficient toilet facilities are provided for pupils at Congleton High School.

Agent Jay Ashall Partnership has submitted plans to Cheshire East Council for the extension of Congleton High School, on Box Lane, to provide additional and refurbished toilet facilities.

The proposals will provide an additional 9 girls toilets and 18 boys toilets, plus a new area for wash hand basins measuring 30sqm.

In a design and access statement submitted alongside the application, Jay Ashall Partnership, said: "The school, for its size and number of pupils, currently has an insufficient number of toilets.

"The proposals are therefore to provide a modest extension set within the school grounds and between existing buildings to provide both additional toilets adjacent to the main school toilet block."

The area currently comprises an external courtyard used for by the school as an informal external dining area.

The proposed single-storey extension, which would match the scale and height of the immediately adjacent school buildings, has been proposed to be central to the building for ease of access and use by all pupils.
