Congleton firefighters extinguish fire

By Tom Avery 20th Apr 2020

Firefighters were called out to the same Congleton road for the second time in four days following reports of smoke.

One fire engine from Congleton arrived on Redfern Avenue, Congleton, just after 5:30am this morning (Monday).

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "On arrival the crew discovered that the fire involved controlled burning."

The crew used a hose reel jet to put the fire out.

Nub News reported on Saturday that firefighters were called out to Redfern Avenue on Friday night following concerns relating to a large fire in a back garden.

The crew arrived to find that it was a controlled burning that was supervised, however, it was considered "far too big to be safe".

It wasn't confirmed whether the incidents took place at the same property.
