A woman from Congleton has been jailed for more than four years, after she pleaded guilty to dealing class A drugs in the town.

Abigail Wright appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday, 31st March where she was sentenced to four years and two-months in prison.

The 35-year-old of Mill Street, Congleton, had earlier pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of Class A controlled drugs (crack cocaine and heroin) and the breach of a Protection Order.

The case began in January 2023 when Wright was arrested for breaching an harassment order imposed against her.

While in custody, officers from Cheshire's Operation Apollo County Lines Team ascertained a phone number, believed to be Wright's, had frequently been seen in incidents relating to the distribution of Class A drugs (Cocaine and Heroin) throughout Congleton.

Following the discovery, officers conducted a warrant at Wright's home address on Mill Street, Congleton, where a quantity of illegal drugs and drug-related paraphernalia, along with a list of buyers and sellers, was seized.

Wright was subsequently charged and remanded at Chester Crown Court where she pleaded guilty to two counts of concern to supply Class A drugs (Cocaine and Heroin).

A spokesperson for Operation Apollo (County Lines Team for Cheshire Police) said: "This case demonstrates our commitment to tackling with individuals and groups that intend to make money from dealing illegal substances of all classes.

"The sentence that Wright has received shows the serious nature of this type of offending due to the damage it causes to our communities and I do hope it serves as a warning to others tempted to involve themselves in this type of criminality."
