Board games bring families together, even those affected by dementia.

So to emphasise this ahead of Christmas, a board game swap shop has come to Congleton.

People are encouraged to donate or bring a tabletop game and come back with another, to conduct dementia-friendly activities that their loved ones can also partake in.

The launch of this free service will take place on Thursday November 18 at Congleton Town Hall. But will be available in the Library at all times, just mention you would like to take part in the Swap Shop at the Congleton Library Reception.

Congleton Partnership, who are hosting the event as part of Congleton Town Council said: "Housed inside Congleton Library, a variety of games and activities suitable for people living with dementia, will be available for loan or can be swapped for games and activities in good condition.

They said: "Dementia Friendly Congleton a sub-group of the Congleton Partnership is helping to spread the word about face to face activities starting to resume across the town after all support groups were postponed during the COVID-19 pandemic."

"Hot off the press on the 18th will be a new publication which provides information on regular community activities for the 'young at heart' living in Congleton and people living with dementia."

Whether it is a vintage version of Monopoly or brand new Battleships, any board game is welcome to trade.

The initiative initially launches today.

The event is one of almost 50 events listed on the Congleton Nub Nub News What's On section.
