Community comes together for parade to welcome new Town Mayor

Congleton came together to welcome the newly elected Town Mayor.
A longstanding tradition was upheld on Sunday (June 22) as the town held a Civic Parade and Service in honour of councillor Robert Brittain.
Over 150 people took part in the parade, which drew the support of the wider civic community, with ten mayors from neighbouring towns among those in attendance.
Councillor Brittain, who became mayor in May, said: "It was an absolute honour to be welcomed as Congleton's Town Mayor in such a wonderful show of community spirit.
"Seeing so many residents, young people, and community organisations coming together filled me with pride and gratitude.
"I'm looking forward to a year of service, supporting local causes and representing this remarkable town."

The event was coordinated thanks to Parade Marshall, Cadet Warrant Officer Sophie Faulkner from 230 (Congleton) Squadron Air Training Corps.
Led by the stirring sounds of the Rode Hall Silver Band, the procession featured a strong showing from local residents, community groups, charities, and uniformed organisations.
Among the many young people proudly taking part were members of the Guides, Scouts, Congleton Youth Orchestra, and pupils from Mossley Primary School.
The service at St Peter's Church, led by Rev Ian Enticott, included performances by Congleton Choral Society and a poem about Congleton written and read by the Mayor's Cadet, Haru Pepper.
Councillor Sally-Ann Holland acted as Macebearer, and the bells of St Peter's rang out in celebration.
Following the church service, guests were invited to a reception at Congleton Town Hall, where the Rode Hall Silver Band delivered another rousing musical performance.
