Christmas disco to raise money for Congleton Social Supermarket

An event happening in Congleton next month will help a Congleton grocery shop which helps those who are struggling.

On the day food prices were at a 40 year high, a Congleton disco was announced to raise money for the cost of living crisis.

On Saturday November 26 2022, Congleton Deputy Mayor, Councillor and Postman Rob Moreton will be hosting a disco. 

Joined by DJ Chris Booth, they will be belting out 80s and 90s tunes, at a festive-themed disco where fancy tress is welcome.

Tickets cost £10, and includes food. And proceeds will go to Lawton Street good cause Congleton Social Supermarket. 

Tickets for the fancy dress disco are available from Congleton Information Centre on High Street, or via dialling 07597 085396. 

While a man of many titles, Cllr Moreton, who has sat on both Cheshire East and Congleton Town Council over the last three years, is organising the event as a Congleton resident.

"After considerable thought, I am delighted to announce all the money raised at this year's Christmas party is being donated to our amazing Congleton Social Supermarket," he said.

"Our amazing community needs this shop more than ever. Tickets are selling well, this festive party is also fantastic for small Christmas works parties.

Congleton Social Supermarket opened in September 2021.

You can get ten essential groceries for just £5. Options go up incrementally to 30 items for just £15, which is the most popular option with people doing their regular shop there.

12 volunteers help out at the store, which relies on donations from the public and bigger supermarkets.
