Thirty-eight people have died in the Congleton area after contracting coronavirus, according to the latest figures.

The figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) show deaths at a local level for people who have contracted Covid-19.

This is an increase of 32 since the latest data from the ONS in May which can be found here.

Alongside the 11 deaths in Congleton town itself, the figures show that 27 people have died across the Congleton West Heath (4), Buglawton (13), Hightown, Mossley and Timbersbrook (10) areas.

Deaths are reported by postcode area, which is why exact places are not revealed for the villages, though the ONS also said that the information with small numbers in rural areas has been kept vague for confidentiality reasons.

The statistics listed are for deaths where Covid-19 was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor, between March 1 and May 31.
