A play about the life of Congleton's inspirational suffragist Elizabeth Wolstenhome Elmy is progressing nicely.

Elizabeth's Group is delighted to hear that Stuart Neild is writing a play about Mrs Elmy.

The founder and chair of the group Susan Munro said: "What a fabulous subject Elizabeth will make and it's great to see her getting out there into the wider public domain.

"We sincerely wish Stuart and the play every success and await opening night with anticipation."

The play is simply entitled Elizabeth and is set in Buglawton where Elizabeth resided.

The play focusses on what a force for good and change she was; featuring her own trials and tribulations, as well as the struggles of those she helped around her.
